Mike Rupp was a draft pick of the New York Islanders in 1998, but never played a game for the team. At the time, Rupp was playing for the Erie Otters of the OHL. Two years later, he found himself in the Devils organization and eventually got called up during the 2002-03 season. In Game 7 of the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals, Rupp's second-period goal put the Devils up 1-0, and turned out to be the game-winner. It was also Rupp's first career playoff goal. To this day, Rupp remains the only player to have his first career playoff goal be the Cup-clincher. Rupp was eventually traded to Phoenix the following season and also spent time with Columbus before returning to New Jersey as a free agent in 2006. Currently, he can be seen playing alongside the likes of John Madden and Jay Pandolfo.
